Welcome to Four Brooks Farm

Historical Gilder Palmer Estate

Preserving a Legacy of Art, Culture, and History

Step Into History at Four Brooks Farm

Preserving The Essence of the Gilded Age

Welcome to Four Brooks Farm, a historical gem nestled in the heart of Tyringham, Massachusetts. Our mission is to preserve the rich cultural heritage of this remarkable estate, once home to the influential Gilder Palmer family, and to inspire future generations through art, history, and nature.

Discover Our History

Four Brooks Farm was the cherished summer residence of Richard Watson Gilder, a prominent publisher, poet, and social reformer, and his wife, Helena De Kay Gilder, a celebrated artist. The estate became a vibrant hub of creativity and intellect during the Gilded Age, hosting luminaries such as President Grover Cleveland and author Mark Twain. Today, we honor their legacy by transforming the estate into a museum and cultural center.

Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Berkshire County, Four Brooks Farm spans over 140 acres of fields and woodlands, offering breathtaking views of the Tyringham Cobble. The estate features a house with architectural elements designed by the illustrious Stanford White, and a formal European-style garden that invites visitors to step back in time.

EMBRACE OUR VISION

Four Brooks Farm is more than just a historical site; it is a living testament to the vibrant cultural and artistic legacy of the Gilded Age. Our vision is to create a dynamic museum and cultural center that celebrates the artistic achievements and social contributions of the Gilder Palmer family.

By preserving the estate and offering diverse programs, we aim to foster a deeper appreciation of history, art, and nature.
